For too long, Oilheat has been plagued by utility advertising that gives the impression that combustion from oil burners does not measure up to present day air quality standards.
Nothing could be further from the truth!
One of Oilheat's advantages is that of providing a supply of heating oil stored safely on your property. Properly maintained, your oil tank can provide you with years of heating security.
• Heating oil in liquid form does not burn. It flows from your storage tank to the burner where it is atomized into a fine spray. These spray droplets are what ignites to create Oilheat's flame within your boiler or furnace.
• On average, heating oil is preheated to a temperature of 140°F or higher (inside your burner) to support combustion. (A lit match will be extinguished if dropped into a container of heating oil due to this additional safety feature).
• Heating oil tanks have safety valves and are vented outdoors.
• Our automatic delivery system enables us to determine approximately how much fuel is in your tank. This in turn allows us to schedule deliveries on a timely basis so you always have an adequate supply of heating oil on hand.
• The most recent emission rating for oil burned by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA is at the same level exhibited by natural gas burners over the past decade!
• The EPA now cites oil burners as one of the cleanest combustion sources for heating fuel use.
• Oilheat equipment manufacturers use state-of the-art technology to develop highly efficient comfort systems for your home. It's nice to know that the EPA has taken accurate measure to dispel the myth about Oilheat and air quality standards.
• You can be assured that your oil-fueled home heating equipment is efficient, clean burning, and safe for the environment.
